Soccer is unique from other sports we are used to in America. Soccer is a PLAYERS game, not a coach's game. The individual player has to identify the scenarios and make tactical decisions at GAME SPEED. The players can't rely on the coach to send in the play each time they huddle up. That being said, on top of technical ability, players need to be able to think and make decisions while executing technical skills. I intertwine decision making into all my technical drills to "overstimulate" the player so they can learn to make decisions while executing their skills.

How I Teach Cognitive Training

  • I use blaze pods

  • The player will need to keep their head up and scan all directions to identify the correct blaze pod. After identifying the correct blaze pod, the player must then make the correct decision based on the blaze pod color
